24-hour Comic - White Rose

This comic was done over the course of 4/10/10 and 4/11/10 at Cosmic Monkey Comics as part of Portland's comic month of April. This was my second 24-hour comic so it was slightly less intimidating this time around. I went into it inking without any sketches, so all of my mistakes and rush jobs are plain to see. You'll probably be able to tell where I hurried so that I'd have enough time to eat something. Ahh, but it was fun. While this year was a smaller initial turnout than last year's, I believe we had more people finish their comics, or at least stay for the entire time this time around. Once again, there were incredibly talented artists all around and working in an enclosed space with so many people is all part of the fun. After the halfway point I realized that my hand had turned into quite a stiff claw, and today it's pretty sore. I do need to remember not to push so hard when I ink.

Anyway, this comic idea had been floating around in my head ever since I went through some of the original stories from the brothers Grimm, sometime over last summer. I had some of my thoughts collected for October's 24-hour comic day, but alas, was stuck at work and missed it. So it went on a backburner while I worked on other projects. Once I finally decided to attend this 24-hour comic event, I was set on the characters, the direction I wanted the plot to head, and the structure of the plot. Aside from the loose ideas in my head, this unfolded purely out of ether and good intentions at the event. Some of the frames blow me away, others infuriate me that I could let such an affront happen. Anyway, I enjoy it and I hope you do to.
